Acadia Mitts

I recently purchased mine during summer sale and am very happy with them. The size fits the type indicated (mine are a M). They fit up to mid-forearm and overlap nicely with my jacket providing continuity of warmth and preventing snow from entering. The attached strap provides for tightening the fit, if desired. The leather palm provides a very good grip for tools or ski poles (there is not much worse than mittens or gloves that slip when trying grip something). The hand area is insulated with fleece making it a nice warm feeling when putting them on. I also like the clip connecting the mitts when not in use or being stored in your pack. I was very impressed with the mobility of the mittens when griping. They are very cooperative, almost like they were pre-formed in a curved manner (this prevents griping fatigue – if you’ve had it, you know what I mean). I only have two recommendations for improvement. One, put a swatch of material on the back of the mittens above the fingers to use for wiping your nose during the cold winter. Two, I would love to have a tether connected to the mittens that would loop around ones wrists, preventing you from losing your mitts, something very important in remote locations and storms. All in all, I very much endorse these mittens and look forward to using them this winter and for years to come.

I just want to submit a review of my purchase: Bought the Arcadia Mitts. I live in Duluth, MN, a cold place on Lake Superior. Walked several times in the last week at -35 to -45 windchill, and the Mitts were just as comfortable as heated gloves. I consider myself an unofficial ambassador of Mainers in my state. Minnesota, especially Northern Minnesota, tends to have a lot in common with Maine in my view. Congrats on making a great product.

Purchased as a gift and the recipient could not be more pleased. Highest quality materials ever and the customer service is unmatched.

When I received these I had my doubts. The materials feel high quality, but I was expecting thicker insulation. My fingers are very sensitive to cold and will almost immediately start to hurt being outside on a really cold day without gloves or mittens. Even with gloves or mittens it doesn’t take long usually until my fingers are freezing. I didn’t think these mittens would be any different. However I tried them one day to snowblow my driveway and couldn’t believe they kept my hands warm the entire time. It was probably around 20 degrees. I’ll have to try on an even colder day, but I was incredibly impressed. I would definitely recommend!!

This is a fabulous mitten. It fits and performs as advertised.
